What it is: A newsmagazine true crime show. This episode is a two-hour “Saturday Night Mystery” about a man who was seemingly murdered after his wife ended an affair she was having with his close friend Gilberto Nunez, a local dentist.
This is a true story about a guy who got cheated on and then may have been poisoned to death (exactly what happened is never conclusively established but the show strongly implies that Nunez killed him), traumatizing his family in a way that apparently contributed to his 18-year-old son committing suicide a year later. I know it’s an obvious point to make, but parlaying those events into a salaciously entertaining “Saturday Night Mystery” is fucking gross. (At one point some cops being interviewed chuckle over the fact that they remarked early on in their investigation that the case seemed like a Dateline story, the best definition of which I can come up with is a murder involving people who fuck.)
But on the positive side, this episode at least refutes the idea that the mainstream media is anti-Trump by imparting the lesson that allowing immigrants to cuck you will only end in tragedy. The other lesson imparted is that Dateline is trash and you should all stop watching it, for my sake if not for your own.
