#1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, week of 11/5/16
What it is: The 7th album from southern rock band Kings of Leon.
This album is the kind of thing I don’t like writing about, in that it isn’t either so good or so bad that I have a whole lot to say about it. You can probably tell that I had a good time ripping into The Accountant, and I enjoyed singing the praises of Frank Ocean’s Blonde, which I liked a lot (even though I didn’t have quite as much to say about it since I’m a predominantly negative person). But WALLS is just fine. The songs are definitely catchy and I kind of enjoyed some of them, especially the title track, but they’ve all got such a studio sheen that not much distinctive personality can show through. If this is your sort of thing you may well be into it but it didn’t give me much food for thought. That album cover sure is creepy and gross, huh?
